oh my goodness! I am so happy for you! I just started watching food network star around maybe the 7th episode (I get more stressed watching you than you are when you’re cooking) and I got hooked on to you! since then I’ve always wanted you to win! kudos to my little cousins in chicago who introduced me to this! they’ve loved you all the way! we’ve always wanted a little bit more indian food on food channel. congratulations! my cousins and I are truly very happy(: we’re looking forward to seeing a few more Indian recipes on food network!

I liked the other guys but they were a bit too frantic. You were just right. Besides, when Bobby Flay wants to open an Indian restaurant with you, how could you NOT win! Best of luck!

Ok, I know this is really lame but I’m REALLY excited that you won. I obviously don’t know you, but I totally feel like you could have been one of my childhood friends from my hometown in India AND so many of your dishes are *just* as my mom/grandmom would make them – the green masala chicken, in particular comes to mind.

We are one episode behind here and I just couldn’t sleep hoping, praying for you to win though in my heart I knew you were “The Winner”. I was up since 2 a.m. and while I lay in bed, kept wondering if you had won. At 4 a.m. I went on the food network site and was elated to know that you were the next food network star. I have four kids. I don’t watch TV, like, EVER. And I will wholly admit that we, as a family, have gotten sucked into this show because my 8yo son loves the food network. We’ve been rooting for you the whole time, even as we’ve loved some of the other contestants – Herb especially, because my husband’s family is Cuban & I think all the kids can relate to his stories of a well-fed, delicious and chunky childhood!
We wouldn’t let anyone stay up late last night to watch the finale, but I admit that I woke up to pee & snuck my iPhone into the bathroom with me to look & see if you’d won. And then we all had breakfast this morning & then sat down to fast-forward through the commercials. Still, at the end, we called it for you – even the baby!

aarti: congrats on getting your show, aarti paarti! i definitely was rooting for you. i think the concept is good – as you will blend indian cooking, techniques and spices to already recognized american staples.
the doesn’t mean you have to stop there. i think you could show folks that an indian curry (meat or vegetable) can be easy to make, healthy and super delicious. regardless, you’ll do a good job. i love indian food and the food network needed you!
an aside – it would be of tremendous benefit to the brooklyn folks if you could open a restaurant somewhere in kings county that has good indian food. i have queried a bunch of people. as bobby flay and cat cora said, they want to be a part of if you open an indian restaurant, this would be true of all brooklynites craving some really good indian food. an idea that needs to be met here in the best of the five boroughs.

I have to admit I’m kind of shocked to be the first one to congratulate you on your site (unless these are being moderated and you’re recovering from celebration). My wife and I are very excited to finally learn how to cook good Indian food. We’ve had numerous failed or mediocre attempts in the past with Indian flavors, but none have come close to the flavors we love at Indian restaurants. I think Aarti Paarti was a great choice to add to the Food Network lineup.
Having just discovered your blog recently, we also hope you continue providing great recipes here.

Soooo happy for you—actually screamed when you won–Kinda startled my fur babies. LOL
I find you so endearing on camera including your love and references about your mum, her cooking and recipes. If anyone says a word about it just know that there wasn’t a day that went by that Emeril Lagasse didn’t mention his Portuguese mom Hilda…….. or her recipes or her famous “pementum moida”.
I know the show is showing how to incorporate Indian ingredients in a non-intimidating way, but I hope you will incorporate some middle-eastern style as well. Would love to see some Persian, Lebanese and other regional influences you may have picked up in Dubai……..or is that a future series for you
I hope you will be able to continue this blog or at least leave it up as I find it wondrous…….
Will be watching Sunday noon and have my Tivo set as well.

Congratulations. We watched the episode last night and I was as nervous as you looked! I thought they could have done a better job on your pilot (the scenes they showed of you filming it looked so much better than what ended up in the pilot) and the guys pilots were good so if they had judged off of the pilot and the audience it would have been way too close to call. Luckily they looked at everyone’s performance overall and you kicked butt overall. I am so happy for you and I can’t wait to watch your show!

Hi Aarti – Congratulations! You were head-and-shoulders above the others this season. I’m so glad you were chosen, although the decision couldn’t have been too difficult for the judges. You outshone everyone by a mile in the Iron Chef competition and didn’t break a sweat! I’m going to try those turmeric shrimp as soon as I can. Congrats girl!!! May you be blessed by the Lord in everything you do and make.:) I’m a South Indian girl married to an American guy and could just relate to you in so many ways. I have so many ideas for you too. I’m sure you’ve thought of them but just in case, you should do a dosa (or crepe), and a show on how to use a pressure cooker(a time saver in the kitchen), my husband loves BBQ ( an Indian spiced BBQ sauce on a some beef ribs ..yum). You also have to put up your iron chef reciepes, they all looked so yummy and the comments from the chefs were incredible. You rock!! Waiting to see your show in Atlanta,GA!

Hey Aarti, I’m so proud of ur achievemnts these 10 weeks in the next food network star. Right from the first episode, some of the dishes u made were the best. I think you are the perfect person to showcase Indian cooking on food network and u do complete justice with simple yet tasty recipes.

Congratulations and blessings. My husband, Steve and I picked you as the “must be winner” from the very beginning. I have been to India over 30 times (business+pleasure) and your joy for life, love of food & God was evident all the time. We arre simply thrilled you will be able to introduce the “heavenenly flavours” of India (especially Kerela) to Americans, well everyone.
Most do not even understand the exciting cuisine of India-so much more than tandoori, “curry” (hey what’s that about) and nan. I really look forward to your teaching folks about masalas, such as karela, maybe even Awadhi cuisine as well as lovely South Indian coconut milk rich fish or shrimp masala, oh and appam,s and dosa, idli and Sambhar for the best ever breakfast…..YES!

I’m about to go make some chutney to celebrate! It’s my first try at it, so BIG THANKS for the inspiration last night. I didn’t know how to make it before. Having a rather Indian-inspired dinner tonight to celebrate (curry lentil soup, naan, chutney…).

Wow – what a disappointment
While Aarti is very cute and somewhat entertaining, the chance of survival is slim, and I doubt many will tune in for an Indian infusion. Tom and Herb had such better performances and would have createing such a huge opportunity for the Food Network……..What were they thinking?

I have been watched the last 3 “the next foodnetwork star” and so far you are my favorite. As a Taiwanese, I came to united states alone to study animation and I have survived for 10 years. Congratulations Aarti!!! Like others on here I’ve wanted you to win from the very beginning. You’re just such a sweet person it’s impossible not to love you. Plus, no offense to the other contestants, of whom there were several other very lovable personalities, but Food Network has far too many healthy shows and home cooking shows and italian cooking shows and all that. We need more indian cooking in America– it’s just so good– and there’s not much out there right now on indian cooking. thanks for teaching me how to make chutney last night, didn’t realize all i needed to do was add some vinegar to my cooked down fruit concoctions and i’d have chutney! the apricots needed to be dealt with and this was the perfect thing to do with them. thanks again!

AARTI, Congrats!! While some may argue that the results were predictable because we don’t need more hispanic or american food on the Food Network .. the truth is, you can cook and you have the personality that we the viewers want to see. Cooking Indian food (which is huge!) is a wonderful plus and I can’t wait to start watching you demystify it. Hopefully you will fair a little bit better than last year’s winner… don’t really see her on TV during normal hours…

Great win Aarti! Congratulations! You deserved it! Herb talks well before the camera but can he cook and make the viewers cook? His last presentation was his best but was not consistent. Tom is a risk taker and a good cook. He never shined other than in the emotion (Jealousy) round. I like him because he experiments… but Aarti, you were a bit more professional and consistent and deserved to win. A chef on TV should motivate dummies to try it out in the kitchen… and you do. You inspire people to try it out.

When I began watching The Next Food Network Star, I noticed you immediately. I found you to have such warm, radiant and compassionate eyes and an apparent passion for what you do. Friends and I went back and forth as to who we thought would win, and several of us, myself included chose you from the get go. I am learning to cook (I am 20 years old) and Indian food sure does seem intimidating, but you really do make it seem easy!

This may sound weird, but it’s almost like I feel that I won. I don’t know why. Like you, I have a different ethnic background (Filipino). Maybe this is why I can relate to you. I will definitely watch your Food Network show. You’ve inspired me to go to cooking school. I’m 44 years old, though. I’m not a great cook but I think I can learn to be one. What do you think? I was rooting for you from the beginning. Finally, I will learn to cook Indian food. My cupboards have new spices in them and ready to go.
I hope you discuss the various spices because from what I read their is an Indian name but goes under another name here. I also hope you talk about the healthy aspects of these spices such as curry and tumeric.
I’m impressed and so were the judges and those who tasted the food.
Hope you teach us to make Nann for pizza.

Knew you would win from the beginning! I am so excited to find your blog as well and find recipes for so many of my favorite foods and flavors! My husband has traveled to India for numerous ministry trips and has loved the foods of India..I recently became a fan. I just finished six rounds of Chemo for Breast Cancer and had very little taste for most foods,. Congrats to you! I have never felt particularly connected to the food made by contestants on NFNS before, but as a lover of Indian food, I was immediately won over.
As a young student/musician with limited time, money, and cooking experience, these dishes have been great to make. And of course, your blogs and videos totally line up with my quirky sense of humor, so it makes them all the more fun to watch.

My Hearty Congrats to you for becoming the Foodnetwork Star. Finally, I am getting an Indian food show. We really need a completely different show – am bored of watching the same old Italian etc. I would like to see you grow to Emmy winning stars like Ina, Bobby, Rachel etc. I would like to share some tips since I am getting Indian cooking show..hope u dont mind:
1) Apart from regular dishes that we get in America like the Tikka Masala, Tandoori Chicken, Naan etc dishes – please show us the authentic dishes like the Idli, Dosa, Biryani etc. in the simplified style. Even though I am a South Indian – I can still use those tips in my everyday cooking.
2) You should shoot an exclusive show on Indian pantry that has the spices, Vegetables etc. Remember – we eat a lot of different veggies like bitter melon, curry leaves, amaranth leaves, sorrel leaves etc
3) Every state in India has its own unique recipes for example Dum Biryani, Sorrel chutney, Mirchi Ka Salaan from Andhra pradesh, Rasam, Sambar etc from Tamil Nadu, Bisi Belabath etc from Karnataka, Meen Moyili from Kerala and so on and so forth. Please do shows focusing on one state and their special foods. Giada does the same – I watch her show regularly and sometimes she does shows about Northern Italian, Sicily etc.
4) Indian food is all about techniques, spices, taste and flavor. Please tell America that Indian food is not always about Garam Masala.
5) Indian food takes a lot of time – please share your tips and techniques for entertaining friends and family with good food even for people who have full time jobs – both vegetarian and non-vegetarian stuff that I can make it in advance and dont have to slave in the kitchen..
