Salisbury Steak

I shot a series of videos for Good Bite a little while ago, and they’re starting to go up! Here’s the one I did about Salisbury Steak, using Marc Matsumoto’s recipe.

UPDATE: I un-embedded the video because it starts automatically, and the ad keeps scaring the bejeezum out of me every time I check my site! So here’s the link to the video. Hope you check out the others too!

I’ve been following the show and you’ve been my favorite from the start because you remind me of my best friend. So I got on and found your blog! I hope you win! By the way, love all the hair accessories!

I’m not a big of Salisbury steak, but after seeing your video I might have to give it another shot!

Salisbury Steaks were the original Freedom Fries! In WWI the English didn’t like the idea of calling their tasty beef patties the much too Teutonic “hamburgers” so the name was officially changed to Salisbury steak. I’m not quite sure when the mushroom sauce came onto the scene, but I’ll bet it was near the start. Also I love that green pan. Beautiful! I hope you are getting loads of awesome kitchen schwag from this :-)

What a great idea – never ever thought to use Heinz 57 sauce *in* a sauce!

And yes, you are a joy to watch!!!!

Aarti! I just moved to a new town and wandered into a fresh produce market that happened to have a wide variety of Asian and Indian items… including fresh curry leaves!! I thought “oh!! Aarti would be so excited to see these!” I snatched some up, along with fenugreek seeds and black mustard seeds. I have no idea what to do with them, so I rushed home to search your website. I’m making your quinoa with coconut milk tonight for dinner. Thanks for being awesome :D

Interesting recipe I may try it. I’ve seen Salisbury steak in the frozen food section but never knew what it was until now.

@Val, I’m English and had never heard of Salisbury steak until I moved to Canada. I can’t imagine anyone in Britain in WW1 eating burgers of any description- we never had them until 1960s/1970s and they aren’t a patch on North American ones!.

Hi Aarti, I am your fan. Wish you all the best on Food Network!!! I felt there was a void in the channel for the lack of expert on Indian cooking. You filled it. Will try your receipe and would be a learning experince for me.

Hi Aarti! Congrats on your win. I am so inspired by your cooking – trying to put an Indian spin on American classics and I am more inspired by your relationship with Christ. Keep on doing what you are doing and I hope that the Lord uses you mightly through this new journey that He is taking you on. The way to many people’s heart is food – once you open up their hearts, fill it up with Christ’s love and some good spiritual soul food!
