Life-sized?
Posted by Aarti on July 5th, 2010 . Filed under: Uncategorized .My sister, Kavita, has been so excited ever since she found out that I was on the show. I believe her exact reaction was at a pitch that only her dogs could hear. Isn’t that cute?!
Kuv is a couple of years younger than me, and lives in Phoenix. When the show premiered, she organized an elaborate viewing party, and she sent me this picture:
I have never, ever, seen my face this big before. Nor would I ever choose to have anyone see my skin this up close and personal!
At first, I went “eeks!”.
Then I calmed down, realised I was kicking sand in His eyes, and squealed. This is so frickin’ cool!

I can imagine it’s very surreal seeing yourself not only on TV but on a series on a HUGE channel! So much fun! Hope you are enjoying the journey for it is the reward

My wife and I don’t have cable (because we know if we did, we’d never get any reading done), so we only ever watch Food Network (and tennis — the only other thing on television we’re interested in) when we’re on holiday. We recently saw the 3rd and 4th episodes of the show and are fixedly in your corner. We sought out your blog (and Food Network bio) and find ourselves even more fixedly in your corner — it’s wonderful to see a Christian in the public eye who is both so warm and delightful, and so forthright about her faith. Bravo. And to see that same person have SUCH good taste in novels and films! Pride and Prejudice (my wife’s preference, though I side with Sense and Sensibility), A Fine Balance, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, The Road, Magnolia, Monsoon Wedding, Spirited Away. I never go writing comments on web pages. Never. Concider myself courteous yet a pretty tough customer critically. I work all the time and geek out to very few things these days. My favorite show is the Next Food Network Star, and I SOOOO want you to win. You are so relaxed on the show and have a wonderful personality (and a super-cool accent!!!) which makes it all the more better! You also have a whole different take on your show, introducing Indian food (which I know nothing about) so I hope you can teach me more if you win! I am hoping that you are not the next food network star……..and think about it…….your style and name are much more appropriate for a children’s show than an adult cooking show……..compared with Sugar or Giada, I think you have a long way to go in terms of creating a professional look that is appealing…..unfortunately also, the point of view is flat and one dimensional, with such a strong emphasis on curry and not much else………..very unamazing overall………

Aarti, i have to say i was super excited to see you on The Next Food Network Star, and i so hope that you win! I myself am in love with indian food and will most definitely keep looking into your website. Although being vegetarian there will be some modification, it would be crazy awesome if you put some veggie friendly recipes on the website.

My 8 yr old daughter and I have turned this into our mother and daughter bonding time. We really enjoy watching your cooking skills and your charisma on TV. You set a good example to look the other way and not bad mouth anyone on TV regardless on their behaviour towards you. That character is very appealing and rare to find. We hope you go all the way and become the next food network star. We surely see the star presonality in you. Hoping the judges see it our way. You have motivated us to cook Indian dinners almost every night.

I’m so glad to see you competing on the show. Your smiles and laughter really make cooking fun. You’ve been my favorite since day one and I cheer every time you get great comments at the evaluation. I hope you win in the end because Food Network really needs someone like you to make the channel even more fun than it is. Thank you for introducing us all to Indian spices and ways of incorporating them into our regular meals. I love desi food more now that I know how what to buy on my own instead of buying boxed Tikka seasonings. I can’t wait for more blogs and for your own show to appear.
