Random Thought
Posted by Aarti on October 29th, 2009 . Filed under: Uncategorized .I’ve been having a lot of random thoughts recently, and every time I have them, I wish I had the computer right next to me, so I could share the with you.
Today, at the gym, I noticed a very thin woman working out on one of the machines. I remember being so surprised when I came to the States, because I had never seen such thin women before. And then I realised that my obsession with being thin is really an obsession of the lucky, the wealthy, the well-off… by our standards, there’s literally thousands of “perfect-bodied” (ie, wicked thin) people in India. Only thing is, they’re poor and starving.
A little self-righteous I recognize. And I will make the distinction between wanting to look like women on the tabloids, and trying to lose weight to get healthier. But I will say this — today’s random thought is making me think twice every time I’m about to complain about my weight.

PLUS, you’ve lived in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles, where the thin obsession is incredibly heightened.
I’m finally used to “normal looking people” again, after 1 1/2 years of being surrounded by them. It took about a year of decompression. And incredibly fit and worked-out people? They stand out like the freaks that they are.
Also: You are incredibly attractive and look beautiful. So there.

aw shucks, thanks russ! and yes, i’m sure you’re right — whenever we go to the north carolina mountains, the combination of real people and astounding nature-al beauty help me let all that RIDICULOUSNESS (and it is ridiculous) go.

Isn’t it silly how the idea of beauty can vary so much. You are absolutely gorgeous – with a beautiful spirit and personality to go along with it!
I can’t wait to see each new show – because your eat-giggle-repeat motto shines through and is a joy to see.
